Relief From HeadachesWhen you have a pounding headache, and you do not know what to do, you will reach for an over-the-counter medicine that your doctor may or may not have prescribed for you. It is a fact that most doctors do tend to prescribe pain relief medication to help you to deal with a severe headache, but at the same time, you must remember that when you seek relief from headaches, you must avoid over dosages of all pain medications. This is because this may have a reverse effect, wherein you may actually have to suffer a rebound headache after the first one has run its course. |

If you feel that you must take medication for relief from headaches, then you must also make sure that you do not over indulge in caffeine and products and drinks containing caffiene, and also ensure that you do not use any medicines that contain barbiturates and narcotics or codeine.
Remember, your goal must be to deal with the headache so
that you obtain some relief, and if for some reason you find
that you are forced to have medication for your symptomatic
relief from
headaches more than twice a week, then please visit your
doctor. He will be able to prescribe a course of preventive
medication for you. There are certain types of classes that
teach you different kinds of remedies, including natural, in
order to obtain relief from your headaches, and this way,
you could even learn how to stop the onset of a headache,
before it can take charge of your life.
Remember, it is you who is in control of your life; you are not in any way responsible for the chronic headaches that you are suffering from, and you do deserve the freedom that everyone else seems to have, from a raging headache. In fact, you can remain completely pain free, look forward to life each day, experience the joy in everyday things and even laugh out loud again, and you will no longer have to feel helpless, depressed, anxious or frustrated about having to find relief form headaches.
Remember, there can be no magic potions that will give you the much-deserved relief from a headache, but there are time tried and tested solutions, and they vary from person to person. According to the National Library of Medicine, the most important causes of an occasional or chronic, severe headache can be stress and tension.
Diet can also contribute its part towards a headache, and some of the proven foods responsible for causing a headache are nuts, chocolates, cheeses, and foods that contain caffeine like coffee and colas; red wine is also a know cause of migraines and headaches. Often, a physician will advise you to maintain a headache journal, in which you fill in details such as when you get the headache, how often, what triggered it, and so on. Maintaining statistics will help you draw your own conclusions about your headache causes, and thereby provide you with some answers about relief from headaches.
Try to eliminate stress and tension from your life, and make a concerted attempt to get the right amount of sleep every night, at least to a certain extent. Also, eat a healthy diet, exercise and get plenty of fresh air and sunshine on a daily basis, and you will find that you are obtaining great relief from headaches.
